Samsung's latest phones are the company's best ever
Fewer smartphone rivalries are more intense than that
between Apple and Samsung. Both companies dominated
the smartphone space in 2015, with Samsung’s phones
accounting for roughly 22% of the global market and
Apple’s nabbing just over 16%, according to IDC.
Samsung’s latest contenders are sure to keep the rivalry
hot. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge pack several
improvements over their predecessors, like a better
camera, improved hardware design and water resistance.
Here’s a look at five features found in the Galaxy S7 that
aren’t on the iPhone.
1. Launch the camera by double tapping the home button
On Samsung’s newer phones, you can double press the
home button to launch the camera. This, Samsung claims,
lets users launch the camera in less than a second.
Apple doesn’t have the same shortcut, but you can launch
the camera quickly from the home screen by tapping on
the camera icon in the lower right corner.
2. Take clearer low-light photos without using flash
One of the Galaxy S7’s biggest improvements compared
to its predecessors is the ability to take better images in
dim conditions. Samsung has increased the size of the
pixels in its camera sensor, which lets it take in more light.
I found this to be true. A picture shot in a dark bar looked
brighter and less grainy when taken on the Galaxy S7
versus the iPhone 6s Plus. That being said, Apple also
has its own methods of improving photography in poorly
lit situations. The iPhone 6s is capable of using the
phone’s screen as a flash when taking photos with the
front-facing camera, for instance.
3. Make a payment using your phone without NFC
Most mobile payment systems, including Apple Pay, rely
on a technology called Near Field Communication (NFC) to
connect your smartphone to a payment terminal. While
NFC support is becoming more common in the retail
world, it’s still not everywhere.
Samsung Pay, however, can be used with almost any
payment terminal. That means it works just about
anywhere credit cards are accepted regardless of whether
or not the cash register supports NFC.
4. Charge your phone without plugging it in
Like many Android smartphones, Samsung’s Galaxy S7
and Galaxy S7 can be charged wirelessly. Rather than
plugging the phone into an outlet, users can rest the
device on a charging pad to replenish its battery.
The type of wireless technology built in to Samsung’s
newest phones (and the Galaxy S6) is made to work with
just about any charging mat available. Although some
tinkerers have developed workarounds that allow wireless
charging on the iPhone, the feature is not officially
supported.
5. Add extra storage space
Users who store hours worth of movies, TV shows, and
music on their mobile devices will appreciate this feature.
Galaxy S7 owners can add more storage space to their
device by popping in a new microSD card. Both phones
support up to 200GB in extra storage space.

The features number 2,4 and 5 make sense for me.
Number 1 is not enough reason. I know some tecno
phones whose camera comes on without you even doing
anything. I mean nothing whatsoever. So it's not a
bragging right.
Am in Warri Nigeria, number 3 feature can as well be
removed and they should pay me the fee for that. I might
never use it... Not because I don't wish to, but I may
never have the opportunity.
Still trying to figure out how number 4 will work. I swear I
will be charging my phone with my neighbor's electric
connection... Them go pay bill tire.

"Pay N780billion Fine By 31st December" - NCC To MTN Nigeria

Despite a suit in court, the Federal Government
yesterday insisted that mobile giant MTN must pay the
N780billion fine imposed on it by the Nigerian
Communications Commission (NCC) latest tomorrow.
The government has also engaged a five-man team of
Senior Advocates to defend the sanction in court.
The Ministry of Communications made the
clarifications against the backdrop of fears of whether
or not the government will stay action on the imposition
of the fine.
MTN was punished for managing improperly registered
5.2m Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) Cards.
A top official said: “The fact that MTN has gone to
court does not amount to a stay of the fine. We have
not got any order restraining the Federal Government
from collecting the fine.
“An application before a court does not amount to the
nullification of the sanction or a stay of action.”
The Special Assistant to the Minister of
Communications, Victor Oluwadamilare, who spoke
exclusively with our correspondent, said there was no
going back on the deadline.
He said the government will enforce the fine by
December 31st.
He said: “Sequel to the suit filed by MTN, a team of
very senior eminent lawyers has been put together to
defend the interest of the Federal Government. I have
on good authority that the lawyers have filed an
objection to the MTN suit on diverse grounds.
“The suit is however without prejudice to the powers of
NCC to enforce the fine clamped on MTN in line with
the relevant provisions of the NCC Act.
“If ex-President Goodluck Jonathan had tackled the
hydra-headed corruption monster and crass
inefficiency in all spheres of governance like President
Muhammadu Buhari is presently doing, the MTN saga
would not have happened, not to talk of MTN’s
audacity to go to court over a clear case of gross
misconduct of trading 5.2million lines illegally in clear
contravention of NCC’s guidelines.
“It seems that the MTN is still under the illusion of the
permissible era of the Jonathan’s administration where
anything goes. President Buhari’s government remains
a purposeful and result-driven administration that
brooks no nonsense and will not tolerate underhand
manoeuvres.
“The leadership of the Communication sector under
Minister Adebayo Shittu, whose character and integrity
are impregnable, has remained focussed to ensure
things are done differently for the country to achieve
unprecedented success as envisioned by President
Buhari.
“This will serve as deterrent to other telecoms
operators in Nigeria. Nigerians are tired of poor
service, Nigerians deserve the best and we will stop at
nothing to do that.”
The NCC explained how MTN committed infractions
and its neglect of warnings.
It said: “The fine that was imposed on MTN was the
second within two months after the operators were
given a seven-day ultimatum to deactivate all
unregistered and improperly registered Subscriber
Identification Module (SIM) Cards. While others
complied, MTN did not.
“On August 4, 2015, at a meeting of all the
representatives of the Mobile Network Operators
(MNO), with NCC, major security challenges through
preregistered, unregistered and improperly registered
SIM Cards topped the agenda after which Operators
were given the ultimatum to deactivate such within
seven days.
“On August 14, 2015, three days after the ultimatum
expired, NCC carried out a network audit, while other
Operators complied with the directive, to deactivate the
improperly registered SIM Cards, MTN showed no sign
of compliance at all.
“Please recall that four (4) Operators; MTN, Airtel,
Globacom and Etisalat, were sanctioned in August for
non compliance of the directive to deactivate the
improperly registered SIM Cards. MTN got a fine of
N102.2million, Globacom N7.4million, Etisalat
N7million and Airtel N3.8million fine. Others complied
while MTN flouted the fine.
“Based on the report of the compliance Audit Team, an
Enforcement Team which visited MTN from September
2 – 4, 2015 wherein MTN admitted that the Team
confirmed that 5.2million improperly registered SIM
Cards were still left active on their network; hence, a
contravention of the regulations was established.
“Consistent with the Commission’s enforcement
process, MTN was, by a letter dated October 5, 2015,
given notice to state why it should not be sanctioned in
line with the Regulations for failure to deactivate
improperly registered SIM Cards that were found to be
active at the time of enforcement team’s visit of
September 15, 2015.
“On October 19, 2015, the Commission received and
reviewed MTN’s response and found no convincing
evidence why it should not be sanctioned for the
established violations.
“Accordingly, by a letter dated October 20, 2015 the
Commission conveyed appropriate sanctions to MTN in
accordance with Regulations 20(1) of the Telephone
Subscribers Registration Regulation 2011, to pay the
Sum of N200,000.00 only for each of the 5.2million
improperly registered SIM Cards.”
The statement said all stakeholders in the industry
were part of the registration of telephone subscribers in
Nigeria.
It said: “In order to ensure proper identification of
telephone subscribers with their biometric data and in
line with international best practice, the Commission
came up with a framework for the registration of
telephone subscribers in Nigeria. (Nigerian
Communications Commission Registration of
Telephone Subscribers Regulations 2011).
“The above Regulations were developed with the full
participation of all key industry stakeholders, including
all Mobile Network Operators (MNO) in 2011.
“The Commission on its part has a statutory
responsibility to monitor and enforce compliance to the
rules. More so, when national security is at stake.”
The statement explained that National interest is
paramount because when lives are lost they cannot be
replaced.
“As a responsible Regulator, the NCC will not stand by
and watch Rules and Regulations for Engagement being
flouted by any Operator.
“The Commission has adopted a smart regulation in its
oversight function in the industry, hence it has always
weighed the implications of sanctions, that is why it
had to place the appropriate sanction accordingly.”
The NCC statement further said that sanctions are the
last resort after all overtures fail but this does not in
any way undermine Industry Standards and the interest
of Investors.

Turn off unused accessories: accessories like Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and the rest should be turn off when not in use, this accessories consumes your battery than the applications you are using, so in your best interest turn them off especially GPS cause you aren't getting lost yet.

SITUATION TWO

When you are not a low battery

If your battery is on the dying path, you have to do the following, first follow the process above, the this extra steps also;

a) Turn off Automatic synchronization

b) if your phone is a dual SIM phone, switch off the other SIM cards remaining your main SIM or else you need them.

c)Turn off all apps that are running including antivirus since you are not connect your phone to anybody's gadget.

d) Turn off Vibration and put your alert to beep mode id necessary (1-5%)

e) stop looking at it, lock it and place it beside you.

     All well and good, enjoy the rest of your battery till it completely dies off, charge it before that happens and also remember to turn on all necessary apps and functionality after charging it. NOTE that your battery needs to be drain off of all charges by using it till the last drop for the battery to last long, the battery also needs sleep too.

your system tray for a “Get Windows 10” icon. From there, you
can either reserve an upgrade (Windows 10 will roll out over
the next few weeks, so not everyone can get it day one), or go
ahead and schedule an install if your device already qualifies.
When your magic moment arrives, in the form of a notification
from Microsoft, go ahead and run the installer.
If you want to skip the line: Both of the above methods will
work eventually, but they’re also dependent on waiting for
Microsoft to anoint your device. Lucky for you, there’s an easy
shortcut available. First, head here to download Microsoft’s
Media Creation Tool (under “Select Edition” choose “Windows
10” and click “Confirm”). Launch it, select “Upgrade this PC,”
and click “Next.” From there, just sit back and relax; you’ll be
basking in Windows 10 before you know it.
As always, it’s smart to back up your system ahead of time.
And maybe most importantly, remember that the free upgrade
offer only lasts a year; if you wait until July 30 of 2016, you’re
going to have to pay up.

How to stop apps from connecting automatically to the Internet

NetGuard is a free application for devices running Android 5.0 or up that allows you to control which app may send or receive data.

It is difficult usually to find out what applications do on mobile devices as you are limited in terms of what you can run on the device to track usage.
While you can set up a monitoring solution to overcome this, most users probably don’t as it is not easy.
There are plenty of reasons why you may want to control the apps connecting to the Internet. Privacy comes to mind for example, as you can prevent apps from leaking data for example or block advertisement this way from being displayed in the app.
Other benefits include saving data by blocking applications from using it, and saving battery.
Applications like the excellent NoRoot Firewall help in this regard as they let you control Internet access.
NetGuard requires no-root access or even the Internet permission, which means that you can run it on any device running Android 5 or higher. The app is very simple to use, open source, and ships without advertisement or tracking, or phone home functionality.
The app requires that you set it up as a VPN connection to control Internet traffic and provide you with its functionality. This is done by enabling it after you have launched the application on your device and accepting the prompt that is displayed on first run.
Basically, it directs all app traffic through the VPN connection it controls and blocks connections this way giving you full control of an apps’ connectivity.
It displays a list of user-installed and system applications that you can control connectivity afterwards. All system apps are highlighted in orange for better distinction. Each app is listed with its name and toggles to enable or disable WiFi and mobile data.
You will notice right away that everything is disallowed by default which means that apps running on your phone may stop functioning if they require Internet.
To enable mobile data or WiFi for an app simply tap on the symbol next to it to do so. You may want to enable Internet for a web browser for example among other applications.
The settings provide you with additional options. You may use them to enable WiFi or mobile data by default for all applications for instance, reset all rules to start anew, or enable the dark theme to replace the default theme.
All in all though, it is a simple application that gives you full control over an application’s Internet connectivity.
The one downside is that you cannot use a VPN connection at the same time you are running NetGuard.

collaboration. You can stay logged into your account on multiple
devices too.
5. Boom player: This music player gives you access to a huge
library of music from Nigerian artistes. Want to stream or
download? Your choice. The app also lets you access the lyrics to
playing songs, as well as edit the meta details of each music file.
Priceless. But Boom Player does more than just music. It supports

6. Pocket casts: This is a versatile podcast player. You can set it to

but the interface is breezier and certainly more colourful. With
Keep, you can record voice notes, draw up your shopping list, write

reminders so you get beeped when you are about driving through or
past your favourite store or market.
8. Buffer: Buffer app allows you to schedule your tweets and
Facebook updates for publishing at specified times later. It is great
for people who work with social media. The app is free, but
requires some payment for usage at some point.
9. Sunrise Calendar app: has been described by some as the first
great calendar app for Android. It syncs with Google Calendar,
Exchange, iCloud, Facebook, Evernote, Foursquare, TripIt, Todoist,
Trello and more to make sure you’re always up to date with all the
events happening in your life. If you want a very comprehensive
calendar app for all your calendar/reminder services, this is it.
10. Endomondo: Are you team fitfam? Endomondo is a good app to
help with your goal of keeping trim and fit.

deliberate, as they usually come pre-installed on most Android

How to transfer contacts from android to iPhone

You can follow steps below to transfer contacts from Android to
iPhone:
1. Plug your iPhone to computer via USB cable. Make sure the
USB driver is installed properly.
2. Open iTunes program from Startup menu or desktop shortcut. It
will automatically detect the iPhone attached on the same
computer.
3. Click on the name of your device on iTunes, which leads to
details page of iPhone.
4. Click Info tab on the navigation menu, and mark the "Sync
Contacts With" check box, and choose "Google Contacts" from the
drop-down list.
5. Register your Google account if you haven't done this already.
Otherwise, you can click "Configure" and select an existing Google
account.
6. Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to sync contacts with your
Google account .
7. Go to "Settings" > "Accounts" on your Galaxy S5 to add the
account to the new device, the same account as the one used in
iTunes.
8. Set Google so that it syncs contacts with your S5, and you're all

emergencies. . Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or
an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can

FIRST: Emergency The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile
is 112.
If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile;
network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will
search any existing network to establish the emergency number
for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialled even if
the keypad is locked. Try it out...
SECOND: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car
have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday.
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car
and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their
mobile phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the
person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the
mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.

If you should ever be forced by a robber to
withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can
notify the police by entering your PIN # in reverse.
For example, if your pin number is 1234,
then you would put in 4321. The ATM system recognizes that your
PIN number is
backwards from the ATM card you placed in the
machine. The machine will still give you the money
you requested, but unknown to the robber, the
police will be immediately dispatched to the
location. This information was recently broadcast on CTV by
Crime Stoppers however it is seldom used because
people just don't know about it...... Please pass this
